Rape is not a word that should be treated lightly.

It's more of an older American thing, since a lot of people seem to have a hard time spelling it.

I love Halo online. I find myself being on the receiving end of abuse because I'm an excellent sniper. Aimbot my ass... But yeah. Teabagging is especially dominant in a CTF game.

And as for that primitive staff... I have a million comments and at least 90% of them would get around the censor.... Each one far more vulgar than the last. It's a Scotsman thing.

I've played enough FPS (mainly CS) online to know the mentality of the general FPS audience. It's the reason I now play FPS only at organised LAN parties.

I've been around long enough to know where a good deal of the "online language" has come from and how certain words have evolved over time. But to be completely honest, this one set of comparisons completely eludes me (and any sense of logic). There are so many other words and comparisons that could have been drawn to describe the situations that these expressions are used in, why choose one that should not be joke? Does the (generally young) male population really think the concept of rape is fun/funny - remembering here that games are suppose to be fun?

Sometimes when I HA where Vent is required, there is usually a, "OMGz is that a real girl?!"

It sometimes goes from A. Want to have cyber sex? or B. Yeah right, it's just a 12 year old boy.

Some of the people I meet in this game expect me to be some horny cyber slut who is ready to give them pixel pleasure at their command. I guess they don't realize that umm, maybe girls like the game, too? That can't be true..

The mentality of todays youth is to be blamed on the parents/law. If you was still allowed to beat the buggers, there'd be less trouble.

Girlzz in Gwzz!! lkye omgzzz!!111 cyber!!1

Yeah..I know a few girls in GW, cool people too.

I don't even play FPSs but I've seen my friends play on Xbox Live so much it almost totally turns me off to them period.

And I love that whole comic so much (see avatar).

I hate whenever people use rape to talk about how bad a boss or somebody else killed them. It makes me really uncomfortable. Oh, and people who use too much leetspeak. It's ok once in a while but don't always talk like it, you make yourself look like you're 3 years old.

In my group of friends, there is no limit to the desensitization. The fact that a topic is 'taboo' makes it even funnier. An example is how often prison jokes are heard.

Odd... my Halo parties are by far more immature than any online match I've been in.

I've used the word "rape" once or twice. (I'm big enough to own up to it) It's just a way of referring to getting down over by someone or thing. OK, perhaps it isn't the best word to use, but in a group of like minded people it isn't really doing any damage.

I suppose the key words are "like minded people". Some of the stuff my friends and I say whilst playing games are enough to make some people cringe in disgust.

My in game pet peeve is bad players. I hate people who suck. Especially the ones who either don't know it, or don't care. The ones who think they're AMAZING, but are the complete opposite. I HATE those people.
